Transit Centers
Transit Centers are central, convenient connection points for several different bus routes. Connections are timed so you can usually transfer between bus routes within a short time. Transit centers have well-lit, highly visible shelters, seating and travel information.

SPANAWAY TRANSIT CENTER – STARTING CONSTRUCTION SEPTEMBER, 2022
To improve service in the Spanaway area, Pierce Transit is constructing a new transit center on Highway 7, a few blocks south of Walmart, and just north of Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
This new station will extend bus Route 1 service to the southern edge of the Pierce Transit service area. It will include a 38-car commuter parking lot, a drop-off area, a comfort station for transit operators and pick-up/drop-off for a variety of rideshare services.
When the Bus Rapid Transit service comes online in the next several years, it will offer the Spanaway area faster access to downtown Tacoma and connections to other parts of the region. As ridership grows, the project site will accommodate an ultimate build-out of 250 parking spaces.
The project is scheduled to begin construction September, 2022. The new transit center should be up and running in fall of 2023.
