Start a New Vanpool
Thank you for your interest in Pierce Transit Vanpool. The convenience and ease of sharing the ride, combined with the economic benefits, make vanpooling a great alternative to driving alone.
Our commuter vanpools serve groups traveling to and from work. Vanpool participants pay a low monthly fare based on the average daily roundtrip mileage and the number of monthly riders in the group. Fares cover fuel, maintenance, and insurance.
- Get your group. Find 4+ others who work with (or near) you and also live near you. Provide us with signed participant agreements from each of them. Each vanpool group also needs at least 3 volunteers: 2 drivers and 1 bookkeeper. (The bookkeeper can be one of the drivers.) We provide the required bookkeeper and driver applications and the training.
- Map your route. Decide where you will pick up riders, and the route you will travel to get to work.
- Find your fares. Fares are based on your work schedule (5-day, 4/10’s, etc.), the number of people in your group, and the roundtrip mileage.
