Travel Downtown to Defiance
Pierce Transit and its partners featured below are pleased to announce the return of Pierce Transit’s Downtown to Defiance trolley service on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, June 1 through September 2, 2018.
Come visit Point Defiance Park with the Northwest’s only combined zoo and aquarium! Old-growth forest, saltwater beaches and spectacular views offer numerous possibilities for recreation. Point Ruston, a model of revitalization, features waterfront living, fine dining, entertainment and recreation.
Ruston Way offers parks, 2 miles of scenic views and access to the waterfront. It’s a popular place for walking, biking, jogging, scuba diving, fishing, picnicking, parasailing, and great dining.
This continuation of the 2017 pilot–Route 15–will provide a connection for visitors and locals alike from downtown Tacoma to scenic destinations along Ruston Way and to Point Defiance Park.
Enjoy shopping, museums and events in downtown Tacoma, then take the trolley along scenic Ruston Way to dine at the waterfront and visit attractions at Pt. Ruston. Continue your journey to the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, trails, beachfront and marina at Point Defiance Park.
Integration with existing transit system
The service is integrated with existing public transportation services already available in Tacoma and provides easy connections to regional services in downtown Tacoma. It’s easy to connect to local bus services travelling to Puyallup, Federal Way, Lakewood and many other connections in Pierce County. Or just hop on Light Rail to continue your trip to the Tacoma Dome Station where you can access Sounder Commuter Rail or Sound Transit’s Regional Express Bus services to SeaTac and Seattle. You can even make connections with Amtrak.-
