Travel Downtown to Defiance
Downtown to Defiance Trolley service ends September 3.

The Downtown to Defiance trolley is a summertime demonstration project. In November, the Pierce Transit Board of Commissioners will evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the route to determine if it should return next summer.

Pierce Transit, in partnership with the City of Tacoma, Point Ruston, Metro Parks, South Sound Together, Port of Tacoma and Travel Tacoma, is pleased to announce Pierce Transit’s Downtown to Defiance trolley service available from June 2 through September 3, 2017. View Route 15 schedule HERE.
This new service will connect visitors to downtown Tacoma and the community to scenic destinations along Ruston Way and at Point Defiance Park. The service also provides Point Ruston residents with their first public transit bus connection.
Enjoy shopping, museums and events in downtown Tacoma, then take the trolley along scenic Ruston Way to dine at the waterfront and visit attractions at Pt. Ruston. Continue your journey to the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, trails, beachfront and marina at Point Defiance Park. View Route 15 schedule HERE.
Integration with existing transit system
The service is integrated with existing public transportation services already available in Tacoma and provides easy connections to regional services in downtown Tacoma. It’s easy to connect to local bus services travelling to Puyallup, Federal Way, Lakewood and many other connections in Pierce County. Or just hop on Light Rail to continue your trip to the Tacoma Dome Station where you can access Sounder Commuter Rail or Sound Transit’s Regional Express Bus services to SeaTac and Seattle. You can even make connections with Amtrak.

NorthboundFrom Traffic Circle at Ruston Way/N 51st ST & N Baltimore St/Yacht Club Rd bus will:
- Continue Around back to Ruston Way
- Right on N 49th Street
- Right on Waterview St (under the bridge) and continue to N Ferdinand St
- Right on N 46th Street
- Right on N Pearl Street and resume route to Zoo
SouthboundFrom Pearl St bus will:
- Continue on Pearl St
- Left on N 46th Street
- Left on N Ferdinand St and continue to Waterview St
- Left on N 49th Street (under the bridge)
- Left on Ruston Way
Trolley service will run from 10:30 am to 8:30 pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from June 2nd through September 3rd.
