A vanpool is a group of 5 to 15 people sharing the ride to and from work, in a comfortable van. How does a vanpool work? Vanpool vans are assigned to approved volunteer groups and are driven by volunteers who share the commute trip. Pierce Transit owns, maintains, manages, insures and licenses the fleet. How much will vanpooling cost me? Vanpool riders pay a low monthly fare based on daily travel distance and number of riders. The primary driver's fare is usually free in exchange for operating the van. Fares cover the costs of operating the van, including gas, maintenance and insurance. Fares are based on daily roundtrip miles and the number of monthly riders. Check out our Five Day Work Week Fare Chart to determine how much your fare would be. (Requires Adobe Reader ).
