SCOPE OF SERVICE
Pierce Transit SHUTTLE provides a high quality, door-to-door service for individuals with disabilities that are unable to use Pierce Transit’s regular fixed route service. The service provided by SHUTTLE is designed to be complementary to the regular fixed route service, therefore operates in the same areas during the same times as the fixed route service. SHUTTLE’s basic service area is a corridor centered on the fixed route and extending 3/4 of a mile to ether side of the route. Inter-county trips are scheduled to or from Federal Way Park & Ride lots at I-5 & 317th in King County; the Buckley Library (Buckley) and SR 512 Park & Ride lot (Lakewood) in Pierce County. Pierce Transit may require pickups at 4:30 AM with the last pickup at midnight during the weekdays. Saturday service has the first pickup at 5:30 AM and the last pick-up at midnight and Sunday service has the first pick-up at 5:30 AM and the last pick-up at midnight. Pierce Transit is seeking providers of specialized transportation services to provide the same high quality service the community has become accustomed to over the past several years. Each selected Contractor will provide appropriate vehicles, communications equipment, operations and maintenance facilities and dispatching functions to accommodate requests for service by Pierce Transit.

A pre-proposal conference will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at Pierce Transit headquarters, 3701 96th Street SW, Lakewood, Washington 98499. All prospective proposers are encouraged to attend.
