Quantity
Tables 1, 2 and 3 list the fittings and hoses most commonly used by PIERCE TRANSIT and the approximate annual usage rate for each item. The quantities shown represent historical usage and are to be used for bid evaluation only and shall not be considered guaranteed quantities. Orders will be placed “as needed” throughout the term of the contract.

Fittings and Hoses
All fittings and hoses shall be manufactured by Parker Hannifin. Model numbers shall be as specified herein, or an approved equal specified by Parker Hannifin, for the term of the contract.

Only new parts shall be supplied. No used, reconditioned or rebuilt parts will be accepted by PIERCE TRANSIT.

PIERCE TRANSIT reserves the right to add fittings and/or hoses not included in the bid during the term of the contract. It is expected that these items will be priced by the same method as the bid. Therefore, please indicate the price list and percent of discount or other method of pricing in your bid.

Approved Equals
Only items manufactured by Parker Hannifin but a different model number than specified in Tables 1, 2 or 3 may be submitted for “approved equal. Items submitted for “approved equal” shall be of an equivalent or greater quality and for the same or similar application as the item they are replacing. No substitution and/or “or equal” will be considered unless a request has been submitted to PIERCE TRANSIT for review not later than 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 9, 2006. Each such request shall be made in writing and shall include technical specifications and similar support documentation from Parker Hannifin necessary for a complete evaluation for each item where an approved equal status is sought. Pierce Transit’s determination of “or equal” product shall be final. Favorable reviews of substitution or “or equal” submittals will be enumerated in an Addendum to all prospective bidders. Products which do not meet the original equipment specification or which do not have an approved equal status will not be accepted for delivery by PIERCE TRANSIT and shall be returned to the supplier at their cost.

In addition to the documentation described above, Pierce Transit reserves the right to request samples of the items submitted for “or equal” approval. Sufficient time will be allowed for delivery should samples be required.

Quality Assurance
Suppliers shall ensure that only fittings and hoses specified herein or approved equals are supplied, and shall make every reasonable effort to ensure that no counterfeit parts are delivered.

Pricing
Prices shall be firm and fixed for the term of the contract.

Delivery
PIERCE TRANSIT requires delivery within ten (10) working days of each individual order. If this requirement is not consistently met, the supplier shall be put on notice to correct the situation. PIERCE TRANSIT reserves the right to terminate the contract after the vendor has been notified two (2) times of failure to meet this requirement.

Products which do not meet the original equipment specification or which do not have an approved equal status will not be accepted for delivery by PIERCE TRANSIT and shall be returned to the supplier at their cost.
