General
PIERCE TRANSIT has requirements for ball bearings, roller bearings and wear sleeves used to maintain and repair transit vehicles (buses), support vehicles (vans, trucks, forklifts, etc.) and facilities equipment (compressors, blowers and similar equipment) throughout the year. The attached list indicates those bearings most commonly used by Pierce Transit and the historical annual usage rates for each item. Quantities shown represent approximate annual usage to be used only for bid evaluation and shall not be considered a guaranteed quantity. Orders will be placed in quantities as needed throughout the term of the contract.

Bearings and Wear Sleeves
All products shall be of the same make, manufacturer and model number specified herein, or an approved equal, for the term of the contract. Only new parts shall be supplied. No used, reconditioned and rebuilt parts will be accepted by Pierce Transit.

PIERCE TRANSIT may have a need to add bearings and/or wear sleeves not included in the bid during the term of the contract. It is expected that these items will be priced by the same method as the bid.

Brand Name and "Or Equal" Products
Items submitted for "approved equal" shall be of an equivalent or greater quality and for the same application as the item they are replacing. No substitution and/or "or equal" will be considered unless written request has been submitted to PIERCE TRANSIT for review not later than 4:00 p.m., Friday, May 11, 2007. Each such request shall be made in writing and shall include the name of the material or equipment for which it is to be substituted, along with technical specifications and similar support documentation, including but not limited to drawings, catalog cut sheets, performance and test data and any other data or information necessary for a complete evaluation. Pierce Transit’s determination of "or equal" product shall be final. Favorable reviews of substitution or "or equal" submittals will be enumerated in an Addendum to all prospective bidders.
