PIERCE TRANSIT
VEHICLE BATTERIES

This is summary information only. If you would like to be added to the
bidders list to receive the complete bid package when it is open for

PIERCE TRANSIT has need for an as-needed supply of heavy-duty bus and automotive batteries meeting the requirements of these specifications. Brand names and catalog numbers of batteries included in the bid must be indicated on the bid page. Bidder shall include necessary technical specification information from manufacturer to assist in product evaluation. Bids submitted without technical specification information from the manufacturer will be rejected. PIERCE TRANSIT's determination of an "or equal" product shall be final. Bids for batteries not meeting minimum specifications will be rejected. The quantities shown in these specifications represent approximate annual usage to be used only for bid evaluation and shall not be considered a guaranteed quantity.

GENERAL
All batteries shall be new and of the best quality for the given application. No used or re-cycled batteries shall be accepted. Batteries shall be stamped with a date coded which is no older than three months prior to the date of delivery.

All materials shall meet applicable Federal, State and local regulations for the given application.

Prior to award of contract, PIERCE TRANSIT reserves the right to perform independent tests on proposed batteries to ensure compliance with minimum specifications. Bids for batteries found to be non-compliant will be rejected and the Contractor shall reimburse PIERCE TRANSIT for the cost of the independent test.

PIERCE TRANSIT may add or delete batteries to this list or adjust the quantities as deemed necessary. The Contractor will be requested to supply, in writing, pricing on any new batteries PIERCE TRANSIT may desire to add to the contract.

The Contractor shall be able to supply of batteries within forty-eight (48) hours of the request at no additional cost to PIERCE TRANSIT.

The Contractor shall be responsible for removing any used batteries from the Pierce Transit property at the time of delivery. Used batteries shall be disposed of appropriately and PIERCE TRANSIT shall not be held liable for the improper disposal or recycling of used or defective batteries.

The Contractor shall warrant the batteries per the terms of these specifications. When requested, the Contractor shall supply a failure analysis report of batteries that fail within the warranty period.

When tested in accordance with Battery Council International battery testing procedures, a fully charged battery shall maintain at least 50% of its rated cold cranking amperage after 15 seconds, in addition to meeting the specified amperage. Batteries that do not meet this criteria within the stated warranty period shall be considered defective and shall be replaced under the terms of the warranty.

Battery performance specifications, Cold Crank Amp (CCA) hours and reserve capacity (RC), may be subject to testing by an approved laboratory to validate its performance rating. Batteries that do not meet this requirement shall be considered defective and shall be replaced under the terms of the warranty.

TERM OF CONTRACT
The contract shall be for a period of two (2) years with two (2) optional one-year contract extensions.
