PIERCE TRANSIT
AUTOMOTIVE WINDSHIELD GLASS REPLACEMENT

SCOPE OF WORK

PIERCE TRANSIT is requesting bids for the replacement of automotive windshield glass, labor and materials, and repair to automotive windshield installations on shuttle vans and support vehicles owned and operated by the Authority. The applicable shuttle vans and support vehicles shall include, but not be limited to those vehicles shown on the bid sheet.

CONTRACTOR QUALIFICATIONS

During the performance of this contract, the contractor agrees as follows:

  1. Compliance with Regulations: The contractor shall comply with the drug and alcohol testing regulations of the Department of Transportation (hereinafter, "DOT") Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations (hereinafter, "CFR") Part 40, Procedures for Transportation Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Programs: and the Federal Transit Administration (hereinafter, "FTA") Rules Title 49, CFR, Part 655, Prevention of Alcohol and Prohibited Drug Misuse in Transit Operations.
  2. Auditing: The contractor shall permit periodic on-site auditing of compliance with the DOT required drug and alcohol testing program by Pierce Transit representatives and by FTA auditors as required.
  3. Reporting: The contractor shall submit an annual report to Pierce Transit using the FTA Testing MIS Data Collection Forms

Installation personnel shall be certified in automotive glass installation per National Glass Association (NGA). To repair a SHUTTLE vehicle off-site, the successful bidder must utilize a driver who has a commercial driver’s license (CDL), Class C endorsement, per RCW 46.25.010. The successful bidder shall supply PIERCE TRANSIT, the names and license numbers of those individuals so qualified.

MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS

All glass supplied with this contract shall be manufactured in the UNITED STATES and shall meet the requirements of the original vehicle materials, such as tint, fit and applicable standards. Replacement windshield glass shall additionally meet the following Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) related to automotive glass:

  • FMVSS 205 Glazing Materials
  • FMVSS 208 Occupant Crash Protection
  • FMVSS 212 Windshield Retention
  • FMVSS 216 Roof Crush Resistance

Sealant used during the installation of all products shall be SikaTack/ASAP or approved equal. Drying time for sealants shall not exceed two (2) hours at 60 degrees F.

TERM OF THE CONTRACT

The contract will be for a one-year period with an optional one-year period. Contract will run from August 1, 2006 - July 31, 2007.
