DETAILED SPECIFICATIONS
PIERCE TRANSIT
ANTI-FREEZE / COOLANT

Quantity
Approximately 2,800 gallons of anti-freeze / coolant was used by Pierce Transit during the period of January 1, 2007 thru December 31, 2007. The quantity shown represents approximate annual usage to be used for bid evaluation purposes only and shall not be considered a guaranteed quantity. Pierce Transit is not obligated to purchase any specific quantity or make purchases at any specific time during the contract period. Orders will be placed in quantities as needed throughout the term of the contract.

Specifications
The coolant shall be a fully formulated coolant, specifically formulated for heavy-duty application, containing all the chemicals necessary to protect diesel and natural gas heavy-duty engines as well as automotive cooling systems.

The coolant must meet or exceed all chemical, physical and performance requirements outlined in ASTM D-6210, and must meet or exceed all special terms and conditions outlined herein.

The anti-freeze / coolant shall meet all Federal, State and local requirements for use of hazardous materials.

The coolant mixture shall contain 50% water, 45 to 48% glycol and 0 to 2.5% diethylene glycol. Coolants shall be made with 100 % virgin glycol or a recycled glycol equivalent. Coolants recycled through a filtration process only are not acceptable. Bidders proposing the use of recycled glycol will be required to supply documentation on the recycling process.

The coolant mixture shall be chromate and phosphate free.

Bidders are required to supply the name, address and phone number of the manufacturer, the name and phone number of the representative of the manufacturer, and a statement executed by the manufacturer that states (1) the requirements of the bid are known by the manufacturer, and (2) all anti-freeze / coolant supplied by the manufacturer will meet the bid specifications.

Performance
The coolant shall provide freeze protection to minus 34 degrees F.

The coolant shall provide heat protection for high temperature applications such as heavy duty natural gas engines and heavy-duty diesel and automotive engines equipped with Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) systems.

The coolant mixture must contain foam suppressors to protect against foaming and cavitation.

The coolant shall protect against corrosion and reduce deposit formation on hard and soft metals of the cooling system components, i.e., water pumps and radiators, and engine parts.

The coolant shall not attack or degrade hoses, o-rings, gaskets and seal materials

TERM OF CONTRACT
The contract shall be for a period of one (1) year with a one (1) year option.
