Regional Reduced Fare Permit
Discounts for seniors, individuals with a disability and Medicare Card holders: If you are 65 or older, have a qualifying doctor-verified disability, or have a Medicare card you may ride for a reduced fare. You must show a valid Regional Reduced Fare Permit when paying a reduced fare.
Regional Reduced Fare Permit applications and permits are available at all Bus Shop locations (the application can be downloaded as a pdf here). All permits are $3. Please bring proof of age, S.S. I. disability award letter, VA paperwork with 40% or more disability, or a valid Medicare card.

Transfers
On Pierce Transit and Sound Transit transfers are good for one hour past the time your bus reaches the end of its route. For example, if you took the Route 1 bus leaving Tacoma Community College at 6:05 am and got off in Downtown Tacoma at 6:27 am, your transfer would be good until 8:22 am — an hour after the bus reaches the end of the line at the Wal-Mart on Mountain Highway at 7:22 am
NEW: If using ORCA e-purse* to purchase your fare, your transfer is good for two hours.
Pierce Transit transfers have a value of $1.75 toward local Pierce Transit fares (75¢ for Discounted‡ or Youth).
*Short for electronic purse, E-purse is stored transportation value used like cash to pay your fare. You can store value from $5 to $300 on your ORCA card.

Transferring From a Bus To a Sounder Train
Pierce Transit and Olympia Express riders who pay cash or use a ticket on the bus may obtain a transfer to be used toward Sounder fare. Bus transfers will be valid toward a single-trip ticket as follows:

Based on the value of your transfer, select a "transfer upgrade" at the Ticket Vending Machine to equal the full Sounder fare. Keep both the transfer and the upgrade ticket as proof of payment.

Transferring From a Sounder Train To a Bus
Sounder tickets are honored as a local transfer on Pierce Transit and Community Transit, and as a one-zone transfer on King County Metro and Sound Transit Express bus services on the date indicated prior to the expiration time indicated. On all buses, show ticket to driver upon boarding and surrender ticket to driver upon request. Sounder day, one-week, two-week or monthly passes are honored for face value during the day / week(s) / months(s) / year(s) shown. On board bus, swipe the pass through the bus farebox or show pass to driver. Sounder tickets and passes may be used for bus trips of greater value by paying balance due on board the bus. |

Passes
Good for unlimited rides during the calendar month shown on the pass. Bus passes are good the 1st of the month through the last day of the month ONLY there is no grace period.
Each month's pass is available from the 15th of the prior month at our Bus Shop locations; from the 20th of the prior month at our other sales outlets.
You can also buy a pass online or order it by mail. If you need a denomination of pass not shown here, try King County Metro's online store.

Class Pass – ideal for field trips
Up to 30 people can make a one-day round trip on regularly scheduled local service for just $36. We can’t guarantee that all members of a group will get a seat or be able to board the same bus but we’ll do our best to accommodate your group. Special
Event Family Fare
Up to four children (ages 13 and younger) ride free when accompanied by a fare-paying passenger. Just let the driver know you want a Family Fare when you board. Valid for special event service like the Puyallup Fair. Not good on Sound Transit or Olympia express services or on SHUTTLE.

Weekend
All-Day Pass
All-Day Passes are good for unlimited rides on local Pierce Transit service on the day the pass is purchased. They can be purchased on all Pierce Transit buses on weekends, and on any holiday that Pierce Transit operates Saturday or Sunday service.
Tell your driver you want to buy an All-Day Pass and put the appropriate fare in the farebox. Adult All-Day Passes are $3.50, discounted All-Day Passes (for Discounted‡ or Youth riders) are $1.50.
Your pass will be an uncut bus transfer. Show the transfer when you board a Pierce Transit bus and ride as much as you like. All-Day passes are not valid on ST Express, King County Metro or Intercity Transit. If you need to transfer to another transit system, pay your usual cash fare and ask your driver for a transfer.

Discounts for Youth
Youth 18 and younger are eligible for Pierce Transit’s Youth Fare, which is 75¢. You can pay 75¢ cash, buy a $7.50 ticketbook of 10 tickets, or purchase a $27 PugetPass. If you’re a teenager, please carry an ID that shows your age. A driver may want to know if you are eligible.
