Public Transportation Improvement Conference
Pierce Transit Public Transportation Benefit Area

The Public Transportation Improvement Conference (PTIC) as outlined by RCW 36.57A.020 was convened by resolution of the Pierce Transit Board of Commission on November 14th 2011. The Conference membership is comprised of one elected official from each jurisdiction within Pierce County and the Pierce County Council. The purpose of this conference is to consider changing the current boundaries of the Pierce Transit Public Transportation Benefit Area.

Pierce Transit Boundaries Finalized

On May 8, 2012 the approved delineation became effective.  Pierce County Council had 30 days to reject the delineation for which the County took no action.  In addition each jurisdiction that remained within the PTBA had 60 days for final withdrawal for which no city took such action.

Pierce Transit Public Transportation Benefit Area Final Boundaries:

Small (557 KB) / Large (1 MB)

Final Meeting

Overview
On March 8, 2012 the Public Transportation Improvement Conference held a public hearing on the preliminary delineation. After hearing testimony from over a dozen citizens the Conference convened a special meeting to deliberate the map. A motion to approve the preliminary delineation was passed unanimously by the Conference.

Next Steps
The Pierce County Council now has 30 days ending April 9, 2012, to reject the approved delineation. If they reject the map, Pierce Transit simply returns to the current boundaries. If the County Council takes no action the map moves forward. Additionally, each city that remains in the revised PTBA now has 60 days, ending on May 7, 2012, for a final opportunity to withdraw. The approved delineation will become effective on May 8, 2012.
