Pierce Transit was founded in 1979, when local voters approved a 0.3 percent sales tax to fund public transportation. We are now the second largest transit agency in the state of Washington [more].

Pierce Transit connects communities with safe, reliable, customer-friendly transit options.
Our services
We serve 414 square miles of Pierce County with local and express bus service, specialized transportation for people with disabilities, vanpools and rideshare programs.

Meet our Board of Commissioners
Pierce Transit is governed by a nine-member Board of Commissioners.
The board is made up of elected officials representing Pierce County, Tacoma,
Lakewood and the smaller towns and cities of our service area. Commissioners'
term is three years.
The Board of Commissioners meets the second Monday of each month
at 4:00 p.m. at Pierce Transit headquarters, 3701 96th Street SW, Lakewood,

Board meetings are sometimes canceled or rescheduled because of holidays or
